If this is true, what barriers are keeping manufacturers from making 52x+ drives?

My computer is Windows XP Home Edition. It is generally quite fast at the moment. If anyone can explain how it will be slowed down, if it is please do.

It keeps freezing for no reason. I've run typical AV programs without any result. (system is clean - no viruses/spyware/etc.) I thought the problem was due to the wireless adapter he was using (D-Link) but that wasn't it. I tried another adapter and it worked just fine for like 2 mintues but the computer still freezes up...and I mean FREEZES. No cursor movement. Just frozen screen. Keyboard does not function either. I have to manually turn the computer off to reboot.

I'm running Windows XP Pro (w/SP2 - AND i've already loaded all the updates). No obvious hardware/driver problems that I can see (Device Manager shows no errors). Plenty of HD space left (little less than 120 GB - partitioned into 2 drives 60 each) and 512MB RAM.

I've exhausted my knowledge base and I'm not smart enough to figure this out. :( Please help! I'm about ready to throw it out the window.

My computer is a HP a1410y w/ a celeron d 3.2 ghz 533 fsb processor. I would like to upgrade the RAM on there, the odd thing though is that I can't find quite the right memory for it. It states on the website and in the manual that it uses DDR 533mhz. The largest speed DDR that I can find is only 400mhz. Can anyone tell me where I can find this

I promised my son who is only 14 a computer but he is expecting an expensive HP M7680N for gaming which I do not want to encourage since he has started high school and should be in serious business. I think $1200 is too much money for the purpose and would like to, at least, find out if that model is what he really needs, whether I can find something similar but cost less. H-E-L-P!!

Here are my new PC spec. I did ask a while ago regarding Core 2 Dou, Pentium D and Pentium 4. And here my final spec.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz on Intel Mobo D975XBX
1 Gb RAM Kingston (2 x 512 DRR2 667)
250 Gb SATA HDD Maxtor
512 PCI express 16x ATI Radeon X1600Pro PowerColor
18x Samsung DVD /- RW Dual Layer
Card reader
17" CRT LG Flatron
Logitec Internet keyboard and mouse
Simbadda case 450Watt with 4 fans

Hope this last 3 years. Is this setup good for graphics design and gaming? I spent USD1011 already and that's it. No more upgrade for 3 following years (may be just the RAM in 1 year)

Any idea my next upgrade?

I have a very new dell xps 200. and it runs great 99% of the time. But every now and then it will freeze up and i will have to re-set it in order to get it to run right. I do regular virus scans and i defrag and delete old internet files, i also run scans to see if there are any problums, but it shows everything is fine. What are some ressons that this would happen to my computer? And what can i do about it in the future? Also is this a common thing to happen to computers or is this a bad sign of a breakdown in progress?

I purchased an HP, XP Media Center Edition computer a couple of years ago, and pretty much ever since I bought it, I've had nothing but problems with it. It restarts on it's own out of the blue, sometimes twice in a row, and there are times when it restarts, the desktop pulls up but it's frozen and I'll have to restart it again. I sent it to HP three times, they even told me they changed the motherboard the last time, and it still happens. I thought it was a virus, but if they changed the motherboard, wouldn't it have fixed it? If anyone knows what's wrong, I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks!

I just installed 2x512MB sticks of RAM (dual channel), both with a frequency of 533 MHz ($130 for both). I also have two similar sticks (512MB) that came with the computer, running at 266 MHz. Obviously this causes the 533 MHz sticks to run at only 266 Mhz. Now, my question is: Would it be worth the money to replace the 266 MHz sticks with faster 533 MHz sticks, thus increasing the overall speed to 533? And would this setup actually be twice as fast (memory wise)? I guess what I want to know is, will I be able to notice the difference? Thanks!
