I promised my son who is only 14 a computer but he is expecting an expensive HP M7680N for gaming which I do not want to encourage since he has started high school and should be in serious business. I think $1200 is too much money for the purpose and would like to, at least, find out if that model is what he really needs, whether I can find something similar but cost less. H-E-L-P!!

The best deals when it comes to desktop gaming computers has - and always will be - to build your own, or buy the parts and have a friend do it for you. look through online stores and discount electronic places to find the parts.

Of course, i think 14 is alittle young to have your own computer, ecspecially a gaming computer. I'd get him an office computer if anything and limit the internet access. he's not quite old enough yet to play alot of the games and to be able to control his time with them. (whats homework against a couple extra hours of half-life 2? thats the kind of thought you should be afraid of)

I know you promised but it's for the best. Best of luck.

Be wary of dell, they are prone to strange problems, and the tech support is terrible now.
You might be better off with a basic computer and a playstation or xbox, consoles can always play games made for them but computer hardware goes out of date for gaming very fast.
get at least 1gb of RAM and a 80gb hdd

the two new egg computers listed above would be TERRIBLE for gaming, intergrated graphics are only for basic display fuctionality (computers used to always need a graphics card, many now come with onboard/integrated graphics not meant for gaming)

What you need is a great deal, a deal you can only get if your computer is custom built. Agates Comps can build your computer for you far cheaper than even dell and Hp! You will save hundreds and get the performance you really need! For more information regarding your custom computer, email Compbuilder1@gmail.com

The best thing for you would be to go to bensbargains.net or couponmountain.com

Dell releases discount coupons on these websites and you can get a pretty basic computer or a gaming machine depending on what kind of coupons they are releasing at this point of time
Hope this helps
