the amount of memory is limited by the mother board, but you should be able to handle more that 64, but i wouldnt go any more that 256, and if posible i would have as many all of the RAM Slots full and have as little as posible in each to make up the 256, (eg. if there is 2 slots, then 2x 128 ram chips, if 4 slots go 4x 64 (if you can get them)

but get the model of the computer and check up the max stats
or if it is a 'bits-a' then get the motherboard model and get its stats :)

if you are talking HD which i dont think you are but i will answer anyway, you can put in what ever you can buy, doesnt mater really, and use up to 60% (what i was told by a IT Specialist) on a windows computer and 75% on a mac

Someone else answered that you could use the 20gigs on your hard drive. Actually I think nobody recommends using more that 75% of the 20 gig. If you're wondering how much RAM you can put into your machine you need to go to the website of whoever manufactured your motherboard and look up your board using the model #. It will tell you how much (512MB, 2GB both total and in each slot), what kind (SDRAM, DDR, etc.) and what speed (PC 2700, 3100, etc.)

Do you mean memory as in hard drive, or memory as in ram?

I thiiiink you answered your own questions. You can use 20gigs of "memory" from a 20gig hard drive.
