I can't see my external hard drive?

I connected a regular IDE hard drive to my computer using IDE to USB cable. Windsow says new hardware is installed and ready to use. I can even see it in device manager, but I don't see it in "My Computer" with the other drives. What's wrong? Thank you.

If the drive is unformatted and unpartitioned, it may not show up in My Computer.

your PC's mother board is not supporting mostly that one is older
