I ejected a movie and it made a sort of sputter sound then ejected the disc. I place a different DVD in and nothing happened. I restarted my computer and again nothing. So I placed my fingers on the drive and I could feel (and barely hear) a few thumps but I notice the disc wasn't spinning. According to windows everything kosher! Is it possible to have a drive fixed? Or do you just have to replace it? It's only a few years old!!!! >:(

CD/DVD drives don't last forever. It's better to buy a new1 because repairing can be expensive and it's not worth it.

Hey

I can not give you a good news here. Been through a similar experience myself. The DVD drives are very sensitive equipment and you're lucky to have run one for a few years.

You can try getting two things checked before you junk it though. 1. The motor and 2. Lens. If there is a lens alignment problem it can be rectified and same with the motor.

Do let me know what happens.. I'll keep my fingers crossed till.

Cheers!
