Could anyone give me a link to a website that shows various AMD equivalents to the Intel proessors?

Tiger DIrect is offering a barebones system which features a pentium D 840 3.2Ghz processor. I have always been an AMD person. In order for me to buy an AMD 64 X2 processor, it would cost me over $100 more. I am not a gamer, so would the pentium D be ok? I know AMD x2 is better than Intel's pentium D but does it really matter since I am not into gaming. I will be doing video streaming, music editing, watching DVD's, software development, database work and multimedia. I will have 1ghz of RAM because I have to have a have many programs open at one time.

So, in conclusion, unless a person is into gaming, would the pentium D 840 3.20Ghz suffice without any noticable differences? Right now I have an AMD athlon thunderbird 1.4Ghz. Again, I am an AMD person but I can't pass up a P-d 3.20Ghz barebones system for $199

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Feel free to recommend an AMD processor that is a little more inexpensive.

My computer is from the U.S. and I moved to Dubai, U.A.E. about a year ago. I recently bought a season of Everybody Loves Raymond from the U.S. and brought it here and when I put it in the computer, it does not work. It is an american computer with american drives and an american DVD. Why is the computer telling me that the region cannot be played? It said something about regions 1,2, and I think 4. How can I fix this?

I installed an ati rage lt pro pci video card, the instructions said to uninstall old (intigrated) drivers, so I did just that. I then realized I could have extended desktop with my tv out from the rage if I had two video "cards". Reinstalled the intigrated graphics drivers (NVidia) and voila - extended desktop to television. It took some tweaking but now it is perfect, except that the boot menu comes up on the television - even when it is off or disconnected. The primary monitor is totally blank until the computer logo then windows loads. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the rage drivers, but it reaked havoc and at one point I had the cursor on the tv only and the task bar on the monitor. very scary indeed. Had to do sys restore which worked from the keyboard thank god. Is there any way of fixing this or do intigrated chips always take the back seat during boot??? thanks in advance, I kindof doubt anyone can answer this but it was worth a shot I suppose.

I want to upgrade my desktop computer's video card from a Radeon X300 SE to a GeForce 7600 GT. I think I read somewhere that some graphics cards are too big to fit inside some computers, and I don't know if this applies to this case or not.

Am fixing a friends computer, lots of winoldap errors were coming up nothing I did would fix it. So I wiped the hard drive and began with a new fresh version. It crashed so bad after I restarted when all was loaded on and working that all it would do was restart over and over, so wiped it again and put fresh version and after a restart winoldap would come on, isn't a virus cos no virus can withstand fdisk delete partition command, so what do you think during one of the times I reloaded I got blue screen of death. Is it the end for the motherboard?

Ok. My gf's son's computer we just gave him is running unbelievebly slow. I mean it crawls. Like 10 minutes to boot and it can take forever to load a screen on the internet. Forget even thinking about downloading anything. I think maybe it could use some more RAM. It only has 128. Can anyone else here give me some ideas as to what it may be. It is an emachines. 2.2 celeron processor, 128 mb ram, 40 GB HD. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

they're freaking $400! And they're value usually decreases $100 per year, so intel and amd are obviously still making a profit off that, let alone when they first come out. what could possibly be in a processor that makes them cost so much? lol is there some rare metal in them or some thing.

I have seen this question before, but no answer that works for me. My windows are suddenly disappearing when I click minimize, instead of putting an icon on my taskbar. I have to go to task manager to get the window back. Does anyone know how to fix this back the way it was before without having to alt/tab, or use other workarounds? Thanks very much!!
