they're freaking $400! And they're value usually decreases $100 per year, so intel and amd are obviously still making a profit off that, let alone when they first come out. what could possibly be in a processor that makes them cost so much? lol is there some rare metal in them or some thing.

Do you mean besides the fact that it takes them 90 days to make each one? Anyway, the amount of time it takes, plus the cost of development, not to mention the cost of each fab (the huge buildings where they make the processors), is where the cost of a processor derives from.

I don't know where you are pricing your processors, but, this weekend we were buying all kiknds of processors for $59 to $139 (AMD 64 bit, X2!).

u can get really good AMDs for like 200 bucks. go on newegg.com. They got your computer needs.. ALL of em.. and im not joking.. all of em.....There really not THAT expensive.. if you want core 2 duo (supposedly the best processors in the world) the extreme editon is like 1000 bucks.. -_-;;

You want cheap, look at amd athlon 64 processors.

it cost so much because it is technology, the 400 buck ones are usually good ones right now.
just look in the right places like www.newegg.com
