wondering whether to get a desktop or a notebook
but am unsure which brand is the better and more reliable choice..

I am looking to buy a reasonable priced input device, but I want one of those pens that the design people use to write directly on the screen. I saw a pen from Wacom, the Intuos3 Grip Pen, but I'm not sure that I'm right in the workings of product, i.e. writing directly on the screen.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

I have a 2.6Ghz celeron D processor for my desktop and 1.8Ghz pentium 4 processor for my laptop. But my laptop is much much faster than my desktop. What is the reason?

Recently i encountered some serious problem with my computer (MODEL: HP dx5150 MT). Sometimes the computer would not start up when i press the switch-on button. Instead, the LED below the switch will flash red five times, once every second, followed by a two second pause, and the computer beeps five times. Strangely, this seems to happen only on alternate days. My computer is currently working normally but the problem will surface again on the next day. The red flashing will occur again and the screen will not display anything, not even the boot menu (Note that my monitor is working properly). I have done the troubleshoot online. It says that the problem lies in the memory, which is installed incorrectly or is bad. Solving the problem will require the resetting of DIMMs and the replacing of system board. I am really getting fed-up with this problem. It is really affecting my school's project work and i had to use the CPUs in school everyday to do my project.... HELP me please!!!

i read on a forum that using two different memory speeds can cause "lag spikes"
i have a 512mb kingston value(pc3200) and a 512mb kingston hyper(pc3200)
could this be causing the lag i am experiencing in some games?
i have a spare 256mb pc3200 module(kinston value),would the drop in memory be worth the sacrifice just to cure the lag in games
any ideas?

If my system is infected with some virus And I want to get rid of it so decided to format my C Drive Now I have taken back up for data in C drive in my D-drive. There is quite a strong possibility that virus may be shifted or retained in that backup of C drive that data is now residing in D drive which is not formatted so even after formatting C drive that virus is still in my PC how to get out of it....Pls Help

I've actually had this problem for over a month, but it has happened more and more frequently.

The laptop doesn't always turn on when I press the On button. Instead, the leds for the power and battery flicker green for a little bit before they die. Sometimes it will turn on, and now it is to the point where it will turn on 1 out of 50+ times of pressing the button.

I chatted with Dell Technical Support last week, and they suggested that I take off the mid-hinge covering. I did, and and it turned on. I replaced the covering, and it worked a few more times. However, I encountered the same problem today and taking off the covering didn't solve the problem. The computer did miraculously turn on though...

Other details:
-Purchased in August 2004
-Warranty ran out this August
-I am currently in Singapore and want my laptop to last the rest of the year until I return to the States.

I have Duo core laptop with 1GB RAM. I have two problems.

My laptop often shows high CPU usage approaching 100% although only few windows of Internet Explorer are open. Even if I do not run any application it shows usage of about 50%.

When I type, some characters do not get typed although I press corresponding keys. There is no problem with keyboard as all keys are working correctly.

Can anyone help?

My iBook is starting to freak out. I think it might be hardware issues. Luckily I got the apple protection plan which expires next year. Since iBooks have been out of production for a year (2 years?), what are the chances that, if they can't fix my mac, they send me a new MacBook?

Was leaking and using excessive inks, so I tried to clean the pads where the cartirage holder docks (right side).
Put in new ink cartirages and the cartirage holder will not return to docking position.
Green and orange lights blink.
Cartirage holder remains stationery and stays where it is manually put.
Have tried a new USB Cable.
I was careful ... but may have moved something when trying to clean the pads where cartirage holder docks

I was thinking about purchasing a HDMI to Dvi-d cable to hook my xbox 360 to my laptop (i have a new 360 with HDMI imput) and was wondering if that would work . My laptop is a 17inch Dell inspiron E1705 and i do have a Dvi-d in port. Will this work , if so is there anything i have to do to get it to work?
