Recently i encountered some serious problem with my computer (MODEL: HP dx5150 MT). Sometimes the computer would not start up when i press the switch-on button. Instead, the LED below the switch will flash red five times, once every second, followed by a two second pause, and the computer beeps five times. Strangely, this seems to happen only on alternate days. My computer is currently working normally but the problem will surface again on the next day. The red flashing will occur again and the screen will not display anything, not even the boot menu (Note that my monitor is working properly). I have done the troubleshoot online. It says that the problem lies in the memory, which is installed incorrectly or is bad. Solving the problem will require the resetting of DIMMs and the replacing of system board. I am really getting fed-up with this problem. It is really affecting my school's project work and i had to use the CPUs in school everyday to do my project.... HELP me please!!!

You computer is telling you that something is wrong. If you are not up to reseating the DIMMS yourself, call a repairman.

Back up your homework to a thumb drive or CD, you will be glad you did.

The flashing LED and beep is theBIOS Post test way of telling you that there is a problem with your memory configuration. The Dimms will need reseating and if you are not too sure or confident about doing this I would strongly advise that you take it to a competent PC repair unit (most small retailers will do this at a small cost).

Well, your computer may be too hot. Check for further solutions by calling or going to your computer manufacturer's website.

You'll probably get a useful answer if you post on a computer-specific forum, e.g., PCPitstop. They've helped me enormously.
