Well, if you accidentally deleted the shortcut then just do this...
1) Click on the start button....
2) Search for the run option, click on it,
3) Type calc....
4) Hit enter
if it is not Working it is not installed
Installing Base Calculator is quite simple, but be careful to follow the instructions exactly:
1. If you are running Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional, log in as Administrator. If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE or Windows ME, simply log in.
2. Run the Base Calculator setup.exe setup program in the utils/basecalc/win32 directory on this CD-ROM. This will run the installation program; a window will appear with an introduction.
3. Once the introduction appears, follow the installation program’s prompts.
4. You have successfully installed Base Calculator under Microsoft Windows!

4) Hit enter
But in case you didnt install the calculator then do as follows....
1) Click on the start button....
2) Search for and click on control panel, there are two ways to do so...
a) If the start menu is set to normal then you will find control panel right in the front.
b) But if the start menu is set to classic mode then you will have to search for the option Settings, hover your mouse on it, in the list that appears search for control panel, click on it.
3) Once in control panel search for Add or Remove Programs, double click on it.
4) In the window that pops up search for "Add/Remove Windows Components" in the left pane, click on it.
5) In the wizard that pops up, highlight "Accessories and Utilities" then click on the details button found at the bottom of the wizard, in the next screen that comes highlight "Accessories" and again click details, there you will see a list of installed and not installed apps, just check the box next to calculator and click the ok button.

By mistake you might have deleted the shortcut. You can get this by following either of these steps.
1. Start --> Run --> Type "Calc" --> OK
2. Open My Computer --> C:/ --> Windows --> System32 --> find calc --> Right click --> Send to Desktop(Create Shortcut) or Sent to Start menu.

There might be a problem in your installation of the Operating System. Try to re-run the installation of your Windows XP, and let the installer repair it all through-it is actually, re-installing the operating system.
