Make sure you have your software up to date. There have been several Airport updates. Also, get macstumbler, it's a freeware program. It does a better job of telling you the signal strength and password protection of wireless networks. Anything below a 30% and you will have difficulty locking in the signal. Also try rotating the Powerbook a bit, because of the metal case, the antenna gets blocked from the signals sometimes.
