I was thinking about purchasing a HDMI to Dvi-d cable to hook my xbox 360 to my laptop (i have a new 360 with HDMI imput) and was wondering if that would work . My laptop is a 17inch Dell inspiron E1705 and i do have a Dvi-d in port. Will this work , if so is there anything i have to do to get it to work?

That is an HDMI OUTPUT on the 360.

And a DVI-D OUTPUT on the Dell.

No, you can not connect the two outputs together and do anything useful.

You can use your 360 with your laptop - All you need to do is to get some extra cables, and such and you will be on your way. However, there maybe something you need to install called a TV Tuner - Which has all of the proper connections for gaming systems. You might want to check in further into this matter.
