How long would I have from the time that my hard drive starts making clicking noises and the like to the time that it fails? This isn't happening, but I just need to know. My computer and all it's hardware is over 5 years old and something is bound to give out eventually. Would I have long enough to run SyncBack (which would copy everything except the Windows folder to my external drive)?

I need a scanner that can sheetfeed and scan HIGH QUALITY maps and color pages for under $300. Seems like all that is out there are multi-functions and the scanners are not that good. I don't really need a fax or copier, just the scanner. Anybody know of any?

Suddenly I see the screens about 1/3 too big. For instance when I view the YAHOO! page I have to scroll it to the right to read the edges of it. I believe a setting has been innadvertently changed, but I don't know which one or what to set it to.

I need a new power supply to handle my graphics card, i'm running a 450W PSU and the specs with my card say that is the minimum spec, it's making the card quite jumpy. Anyway it requires atleast 30A on a 12V rail. Could anyone recommend a decent PSU at about 600W with over 30A @ 12V rail.

Imagine that your computer can talk. The same computer that keeps your confidential files.

If it can talk, what will it most likely tell YOU?

I have 2 Dell D620's. One is 2 months older. Both are 2ghz. The one power supply packed up and I have to change the power supply from one to the other. On the newer laptop this message appeared, "Internal network card is inactive to save battery power." On the other nothing shows up. When I insert the power cable again into the new one it says "Internal network card is active." The answers I found speaks of servers and networking. You are brought under the impression that the internal network card has to do with normal networking. I unplugged the new one got the message to save battery power and the network to my other laptop is still working as well as surfing the internet. I broke open the broken power supply and there are 3 wires leading to a PC board. One is earth, then Volts, to power up the battery, and a third wire that says, DATA. Inside are transistors, 2 transformers, resistors and something that looks like a rolled up copper wire. What gives?

I was reading up about video cards lately, and realized that my Dell Inspiron 1501 has an integrated video card. I was very disappointed, because I wanted to upgrade the video card more than anything, but learned that it was impossible!

I was wondering if this particular PC has any slots that I can install a dedicated video card in, or how I can check. Sorry if this question seems a little noobish, but I'm trying to learn as much about computers as possible! Thank you to anyone who answers!
