You have an envious laptop. 50 FPS is fast. Above 60 FPS, your eyes could hardly notice differences in speed.

Well currently depending on the game windows vista is slower. Under windows xp your fps would go way up. Also if 50fps is slow theres something up with that because the human eye only sees 30 so you wouldnt see much of the hicks and ticks.

The only thing that would change the chops is a new video card of CPU. BUT the cheaest solution is go back to windows xp till after the nvidia drivers under vista mature a little more.

2GHZ is his problem??? Well its a core 2 duo so thats NOT his problem. Thats a great CPU for laptops, and even in a desktop a duo core 2ghz is considered an uperscale cpu.

I guess the only other thing I can tell you is that the 8600 in your laptop is a lower end video card, but again MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE on a Core 2 Duo 2.33 (Fastest cpu in a laptop, with a 7950 GTX and 2GB Memory) is that Under WinXP Supreme Commander for example ran 10x better, Battlefield 2 ran twice as good, and World of Conflict Beta ran awesome, but under vista even though it says something around 60FPS I still feel gitters(hard to explain). Maybe you get getting those random slow downs that feel the same as if you were on a desktop that was overheating.

See Vista is running nearly 40 processes just to run. In the case of Windows XP it runs around 10/15 depending on the version your using. WinXP isnt using as much physical memory either. WinXP uses an average of about 300 lets say (mine run at around 200 but I have half the stuff disabled because I dont need it. Now under Vista the LOWEST I can get it to go while shutting off about half the services still hits around 400/500. Also note these services are constantly cacheing things in Virtual Memory. Also note IO performance on a laptop is much lower then that of a desktop.

My recommendation? There no real way to get rid of the slow downs under vista. I tried even setting everything at lowest settings with no luck. I went back to windows XP :P All the slow downs went away. Until Nvidia comes out with better optimized divers, AND intel brings out better chipset drivers, AND microsoft optimizes caching/memory under vista I cant recommend it for a gaming os. Its a great everyday OS but not so much for gaming.

Hope that helps :(

ALSO note hes not really saying ITS slow. Under windows vista (like when win xp first came out) you play the game, and it reports 50fps. Mine repots 70 in some cases, BUT its actually dragging. Sometimes feels like its slow motion as if the system is overheating. When windows xp first came out the samething happened. Until every optimizes the crap out of their stuff we will have this problem.

Coming from an expert...(at typing)

It sounds like your STP's are co-axially interfering with your IUD's, which could be
SHT'ing on your DUD's and FUC's, thus causing a reduction in your FPS's by a considerable degree...(the computer term is "Processor Pooping-out Phenomenom" (PPP's))

Better put some new greased-up ball bearings in there and pack it up tight with a spatula (everything's done with ball bearings and spatulas now days), be sure to be standing in a puddle of spilled beer, and kick it two times after securing the CPUs' casing...

Fire 'er up! And that should result in a dramatic increase in your FPS's, as well as giving you an unexpected boost in your FRT's...

And THAT can be a big relief to anyone, with or without a computer...

Hope this helped...

Check the video settings for the game. You might try turning down the quality on the various options. 50 fps isn't bad though. You won't notice much difference if it were any higher.

50 FPS is low? Try complaining when you get 12FPS... you can see the blinks at 12FPS.
