My computer is only a year old, but its SO slow... FIX IT!?

I have a compaq presario v5000, I don't have a lot of programs on it, but its soooooooo slow


I did a virus scan-- nothing

I defragmented.... nothing......

make it work!

Go to start/run/type in msconfig Choose the start up tab. Google the items in start up to determine if they're bad, if theyre good, but shouldnt be in start up or if the are reqired to be in start up. Dont use P2P like limewire morpheus bearshare, etc, they make your computer into a server which uses your processor and ramm. Right cllick my computer choose propeties/advanced choose performance. uncheck anything that says fade, slide, scroll or animate. Run disk defrag. make sure you use only ONE antivirus and no more than 2 antispyware. Do not use a free security suite that your ISP gave you. Do not use AOell especially security, vr or "optimized" (optimized for them, not for you) editions If worse comes to worse, back up your data and ask Compaq for the keystroke combination that will return you to factory image (I forgot it) OR RUN YOUR RESTORE cd

music
videos ( movies )
will never go fast
put all that on cds are more secure or an hard drive
use 1 program at the time or one browser
