Good points above, most 'cheap' laptops only have onboard shared graphics which is rubbish for gaming. To get a decent gaming laptop would cost £600+ You would need a decent 512MB graphics card (hard to upgrade later) a gig of memory and a decent spec dual core processor. Not to mention a wireless mouse and other accessories. As said for gaming stick to a desktop or a 360. For portable gaming your best bet is a PSP etc.

Im currently looking to buy a gaming laptop and it's going to cost me about 3 grand (SLI, 3 way RAID etc) so you would need to be very serious about mobile gaming like me especially at your age to justify that kind of spend.

If it's for gaming, I wouldn't bother. The spec for decent games isn't cheap when it comes to laptops, and if the latest unreal comes out for example and needs more powerful graphics etc., it's not a simple thing to just chuck in a new video card.

if you want a PC for games rather than a wii or xbox 360, or PSP for portability, then go for a desktop. The spec for a desktop will be better than a laptop for the same price.

The only reason ANYBODY would need a laptop is if they do a lot of traveling. So if you do not do a lot of traveling, then for gaming, your money would be much better spent on a desktop.
If you do travel, then you still might get more enjoyment out of a PSP or a NDS.

you really don't need one. get a nice desktop instead, they are more powerful and the graphics capabilities are better than those of a laptop. laptops are more for portability and moving around, so wait for one of those when you get into college.

also, desktops with the same configurations as a laptop will be much cheaper, and if you're just gonna be gaming at home, that's better for you. with that spare money, you can upgrade to better RAM and graphics card.

Yes , if you have the money. My daughter has a laptop and shes 10 ( she payed for it with her money though). If you decide to buy it I would recomend a gateway or) a HP. (Personally I dont like dell or their customer service)
