i now want to know a little about external hard drives....im looking in the price range of up to about 140 150 dollars....i want to find something that will hold songs and videos and such so that my laptop is not bogged down....i was just wondering if their were brands i should watch for or avoid...and if external harddrives have speeds or certain things about them that i should look for in quality and such....do some work faster or better than others is what i mean i guess... and what should i look for...thanks guys!

I have recently updated my windows system to Vista. And now I can not access the internet. According to linksys.com/vista the Linksys wireless pc card v4.5 will not have any updated drivers. Do I have to buy a new pc card now?

I have an inspiron 8600 and i simply want to upgrade my 2 256 memory cards with two 1 gig cards....my question is when i do this if i put the new memory in how will i be able to get the memory off the old cards onto the new ones...will i have to put one in at a time and trasfer it. is that how your supposed to do it or how does it work...i simply just do not know how this all works i have never done it before and i want to know how it works im stupid sorry....more of an athlete than a mathlete if you know what im sayin....thanks

My computer slows down after being on for a long period of time. It's fast when I first start it up, after a long time it slows down it's reaction time. I check for viruses and nothing. The temps are correct. My heat sink loosened up and was a little off of but I tightened it back down. Could I have damaged the processor ? I reinstalled windows XP and some other basic programs and games. Still having the problem though, flies when I play games at first.

I have been pricing Random Access Memory (RAM) chips for the past couple of days and I went to Best Buy's website (who has 1 GB RAM cards on sale), but when looking for which RAM kind (PC 5300, etc.) I need. Best Buy listed several manufacturers for the kind I needed and none of them the manufacturer of the On Sale RAM.
I still wish to purchase the on sale RAM, but I want to know if that manufacturer will work with my computer or if I have to buy a listed manufacturer's RAM.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L-35 (if that helps.)

I think it is a 2000 model gateway intel pentium 4 cpu 1.50ghz 512mb ram running windows xp home, 256mb memory, 133mhz processor speed, 20gb hdd with over 11gb free space. I thought the locking up started after I installed the latest iTunes software but after removing all unneeded sw it was fine for a few days then acted up again. I had problem with it booting up. Acted like a crashed hard drive but I really don't know how a crashed hard drive would act. I use comcast high speed internet and have a cdrw/dvd read only combo drive and a floppy drive. Could it be the hard drive failing? Memory problem? I looked at purchasing a bigger hard drive. What all do I need to change out the hard drive? Is there anything else I need to buy along with it? Thanks to all serious answerers, all else...get a life.

it does this alot when i try to connect sometimes if i turn off and on the router it will fix itself but not always---when i click the ballon that says repair it tells me that the network id is not valid but i know it is because two days later it will connect just fine and work.

I have a HP Pavilion 4455 built in 1998. The fans are extremely loud at all times. I have another computer built in 1998 and its really quiet. The iMacs in our school which were built in 1998 are mad quiet. My computer is pretty low end so it has no purpose for being loud! Specs: Intel Celeron 400MHz, 64 MB ram.

Yesterday, before I turned it off, the computer froze; but I managed to turn it off. Today, I could not turn it on completely. The internet connection is on; but as soon as the computer is turned on, a beeping noise is heard between intervals and the screen is not turned on at all. I would like some professional to advise me; I already have searched and it brought up that I need to replace something in my hard drive.
