i bought 50 16x compatible blank dvds. my drives burning speed for vids is 18x. can i burn it at 18x or is 16x the max?

so if i burn the 16x dvd at 18x itll have errors?

You know the old saying.. "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link" - so since the blank DVDs are only rated to burn at 16x, that's your highest speed AT BEST. It's not unusual to sometimes have to burn slower than media's rated maximum to get a good DVD burn without errors. You might find it much more reliable at 8x.

But whichever is lower, the speed of the media or the speed of the drive, will be your best-case limiting factor.

You can only burn a 16X as a 16X. You will need at least 18X media, to get the full speed.

You can lower your burn speed in any software I know of, 18x is just the max burn speed the drive is capable of.
