I have recently updated my windows system to Vista. And now I can not access the internet. According to linksys.com/vista the Linksys wireless pc card v4.5 will not have any updated drivers. Do I have to buy a new pc card now?

Make life easier. Stick to an OS with lots of matured drivers. Just look at the big enterprises. They are not yet on Vista and will most likely make their move when there is SP1 and drivers have matured.

yes, you need to get a card compatible with Vista. That probably just your first surprise of many with Vista.
