It really doesnt matter what brand or model computer but I have a Dell XPS 400. It was working perfectly at school, but when I brought it back home, it does not turn on, and when it is plugged into a power source, an amber flashing light appears where the usual powered on green light is. It is not a power supply issue (I have tried that). I noticed that by removing the 24 pin connector that connects the motherboard to the circuit board which is located next to the power switch, the computer turns on when plugged in without pressing the power button. Is this something that I can repair on my own or should I try a PC repair shop?

What should I do here?

Get two of these xfx 8600 cards http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3048552&Tab=11&NoMapp=0

OR Should I get one of these bad boys http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2824836&Sku=E145-8008

I am not an intense gamer...at all. I play sim city, rise of nations, halo, counterstrike, flight simulator.
I should be more than fine with the xfx8600 right. It seems really nice? RIGHT?

As a web designer and gamer I'm looking for a reliable fast computer to run demanding programs like Adobe Photoshop, World of Warcraft and virtual game emulation servers. I'd also like to forget the meaning of the word lag while doing some 40-man raids in World of Warcraft. Don't bother saying Alienware because I've already decided the price is not an option.

I'm looking for a minimum:

120GB Harddrive (160GB+ preferred)
1GB RAM expandable to 2GB
AMD 2GHz+ preferred
Separate numeric keypad a MUST
15.4" Screen size (17" preferred)

What I'm not sure about is the graphics card. Most people say NVidia GeForce Go 7200+. Also what is the difference between integrated graphics and uhh.. unintegrated?

Only thing I have seen similar is a Dell Inspiron E1505 but it doesn't have the separate keypad.

I'm hoping to get away with most of the above for $1200-$1500. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have two Maxtor Personal Storage Portable Hard drives and one of them for some reason is acting weird. The one that is messed up is the 80 gig hard drive. I am unable to right click anything on that hard drive and when I do it freezes and become unresponsive for about 2 minutes. I have enough space on it and I mainly store music on it. I had defragmented the hard drive but that didn't do anything. Also, when I unplug the power and plug it back the autoplay instead of taking like 1 min it takes about 15 min and I can see all of the individual files load. Any suggestions?

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that has a 30G Hard Drive. I have seen replacement hard drives (up to 160G) on the internet and in stores. I have been entertaining the idea of buying one and swapping them out. Have any of you ever done this? What should I look for? Any advice? Anything (brands and such) to be aware of? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
