Well your machine should never run at 100%, unless you are doing some very very very extensive application running on your machine. If you are not doing this, which i am assuming you're not, then you probably have something (such as a virus, spyware, malware) that is causing your computer to run that high. Check your task manager and see if there is one or two particular files that is taking up the CPU, if there is, then that would be the problem. Sounds like your computer is fine for what you're doing. Upgrading ram would help to speed up applications, but it will not fix the problem you're describing.

Upgrading RAM is a lot easier than upgrading your processor; as the type of processor you can have depends on the motherboard.

If your processor runs at 3066MHz, you should be good to go.
You definitely need more RAM.
When burning a DVD, try not to use any other programs (go get a cup of coffee or something). Burning a DVD takes up a lot of system resources.

You do not need to upgrade your video card, that is almost a completely seperate issue...

The reason I say "almost" is because if your video card is built into the motherboard it will be using your computer's RAM. If your video card is built into your motherboard, open up the video card's control panel and try changing the settings to decrease the amount of RAM used.

Video card that aren't built onto the motherboard have their own RAM to use (usually).

But you definitiley need more RAM.

Yes, you should buy more ram. But ram wont necessarily make it any faster, the chances are that another 256MB will just help it to get to a good/normal speed. Often, 1024B dosent compare to much more over 512MB, but it can at least reduce the stress on your computer. I suggest at least another 256MB, but if possible get another 512MB.

Your processor should not have to be upgraded. It is usually later resort to go to the extremes of upgrading the processor, upgrade the ram and see if that makes a difference.

And the video card is up to you. The video card dosent speed up the computer. It just speeds up the processes which stress the video quality. It also depends on what kind of graphics card you are currently using and what you are doing with your computer. And on a good amount of older computers, you are not able to upgrade to a new graphics card. Most newer graphics cards are AGP/PCI-E, and some older computers may only have PCI slots.

The answers above is good enough. But I have my own opinion:
Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.
The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:
http://speed-up-pc.info/index.php?t=speedpc
lists top 5 registry cleaner, you can download and scan for free.
Good luck!

256MB is the bare minimum for a Computer running Windows XP, Your processor is perfectly fine. I have no info about your Video card so I cannot tell you about that. Your computer Manufacturer will have the specification on thier website as to just how many memory slots you have and what kind and size of RAM you can use. That will really determine if you can go as much as 1GB, or more.

YES you need more ramm. But until then, you could strech what you have by not having unnecessary things in startup, changing mycomputer/properties/advanced/prformance to "best performance). Get rid of all spyware on system. Get rid of all unnecessary processes. With that little memory, do not multitask. You should also copy the fle to HD, then burn from there, NOT disk to disk. That will save you quite a few "buffer underruns"

umm, 256MB of ram is pretty low these days..yes a gig would be great! also when burning things, shut down running programs, defrag the HD so files are easy to find for the PC.
