I am looking to upgrade the power supply, but don't want to fry my motherboard or have an ill fitting component. Is this an upgrade I can safely make to the eMachines T5082?

Retail power supplies are usually 150mm (5.9 in.) wide. Measure your current power supply. Same width would ensure alignment of mounting holes.

I don't think you need to upgrade your case, but you definitely need to upgrade your power supply. I remember the 9800GTX+ needing at least 500W including the rest of the system. Also, I'd get a GTS 250 it performs better and use less power, okay it is a rebadged 9800GTX, but they changed the fabrication, so it uses less power, allowing it to be clocked at a higher rate, which means more power.

more then likely it will, as the days of proprietary parts is all but dead. to be on the safe side, look into the return policy from the store you will be buying it from.
