I have two Maxtor Personal Storage Portable Hard drives and one of them for some reason is acting weird. The one that is messed up is the 80 gig hard drive. I am unable to right click anything on that hard drive and when I do it freezes and become unresponsive for about 2 minutes. I have enough space on it and I mainly store music on it. I had defragmented the hard drive but that didn't do anything. Also, when I unplug the power and plug it back the autoplay instead of taking like 1 min it takes about 15 min and I can see all of the individual files load. Any suggestions?

It could be a bad hard drive or it might be a bad USB cable. You can try switching the USB cable and see if that helps. If not you can run a scandisk on the hard drive to find a bad sectors. Go to My Computer right click on the hard drive and choose properties - Click on the Tools tab - Under Error Checking press Check Now - Put a check mark in both boxes and click start. It will take a little while for it to finish.

I'm not really sure about these types of things, but is it possible that you have a virus on it?
