Hardware - May 2007

I have the part labeled "slave" on the IDE thats going to my master goin in the hard drive and when I start my computer, it tells my "invalid disk, retry" and what not. When I go into setup during the boot I can't seem to get the computer to recognixe the drive? Does have something to do with a jumper? I need help. My computers running out of space.

I tried formatting from the prompt. It said that it couldn't run format because the drive was in use. It prompted to force a dismount. It then said that it couldn't lock the drive and it is still in use. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to these things. I probably overlooked something simple. Any help is appreciated.

I'm thinking about upgrading my processor from a Pentium D to a Core 2 Duo on my Sony Vaio VGN-RC210G. These are the specs of my current processor and the motherboard.

As mentioned above, there is a constant beep noise when I turn on my CPU switch. There isn't any image on my monitor too. I am sure the problems lies in the CPU, not monitor. May I know how to get this issue fixed? Would I be able to retrieve the data in my PC again?

I have the cd of Windows Vista Home Premium Lite but the problem is I didn't meet one of the requirements of installing this OS which is I have only a 256 MB RAM. Can I still install it then I will just add an additional memory when I already buy a memory? What will happen if I still intend to install the Vista Home Premium? Please help......

Im well aware of the Vista bugs and dont want the headaches associated with it. The problem is when you call Sony they could care less and will quickly acknowledge the outcry against Vista but dont want to do anything about it. Of course they dont have the drivers on the website and, again, are almost and i did say almost as bad as the Dell service techs. Has anyone had any experience splicing xp drivers on the vaio VGN series and do you have any adivce. Thanks.

Ok well i have a laptop with wireless internet i also have another computer which is windows ME and i have a wireless adaptor thing that picks up wireless signals but it isnt compatable with windows ME but if i buy a copy of XP and upgrade the ME computer will the wireless adaptor work on it?

When i plug in my charger into my computer..the screen lights up( which means it's charging) and then goes dim again ( which means it's not charging) and when i turn off the laptop the chager light isn't on....
i got this laptop last christmas ( 2006)
i don't see why a laptop battery would go bad this fast...so i've been assuming that it's not the battery..but the charger...i am not sure if i have a warranty or not..so does anyone know what's wrong with my laptop?

i've always used desktops and my friends told me that it's better to turn your computer off if there is a big storm going on becuz it could mess up the computer. is it the same thing with a laptop? i just got a laptop a week ago and it's storming outside. i dont want it to break! =0 should i take it off the adapator and just use the battery or does it not matter? i do have it plugged in to a surge protector. help guyzzzz!!!

hello,
i just bought a 1gb SD memory card for my pc an camera , poped it into the pc with nothing on the card , an it says that it does not have the required performace charactericits to use ready boost, i have 2gb of ram , an i tryed to turn off some start up programs like windows messenger an AIM, so i have virus an spyware an a filter starting up w/ the drives of course. , is there any way i can get it to work or do i need to get a bigger card , an how big would it need to be if i have 2gb of ram..
