what is a PCI car or expansion card and what does its purpose?

I'm just trying to learn to get my a++ certification? If you can help me with anything that I would need to learn or a website that i can visit that can better prepare me to take the test I would really appreciate it.

they are cards that go into the motherboard, they have things like usbs, firewires, wireless adapters, lan adapters, scsi device connectors,

oh and a question for you where can i get my a+ cert?

edit: scsi is not a PCI, or expansion card, it has to connect to a special thing on the mb

Its to allow your current system to have the ability to expand, ie, add more cards to allow more functions
