Im well aware of the Vista bugs and dont want the headaches associated with it. The problem is when you call Sony they could care less and will quickly acknowledge the outcry against Vista but dont want to do anything about it. Of course they dont have the drivers on the website and, again, are almost and i did say almost as bad as the Dell service techs. Has anyone had any experience splicing xp drivers on the vaio VGN series and do you have any adivce. Thanks.

Yes, in fact I just got done doing it today. The biggest problem is that Sony will no longer honor the warranty and the may not supply you with Device drivers for the hardware. Before you start open the Vista Device manager and make a list of all the peripherals ( Sound, Video, Modem, Netcard etc...) and then check with Sony to see if they will supply XP drivers for these. If not check each one of the manufacturers web sites to download a current device driver for XP.

XP should already have all the correct drivers, because in fact vista has less drive support than XP. Also, on newegg.com for $95 you can get XP Home.
