It will but you may find a machine supplied with ME will not have the resources to cope with XP, it is very greedy.

Go the site of the manufacturer of the wireless card .
( It should be stamped somewhere)
It is not only the model but the version as well.
Look for a install driver for your model.
it is not XP that lets the driver work (XP is better at wireless but is older than all of these products0
Look on the site for an xp or maybe even an updated driver for me. A lot of times the 98 driver will work as me is somewhat of an updated 98

Also look for drivers at driverguide.com It is a library where people share and upload drivers they find. They keep changing the rules but basically you sign up , confirm and then skip past the ad screens.

I have only run into one product that did not set up on me. It was a Network Everywhere / Linksys NWU11b ( also linksys had the similar model). That is why it was such a deal.

When you get down to it there are only a few wireless chipsets in all these different products - they are not that different between brands.

Guess it depends how inexpensive a new card is compared to your time. In the end upgrading to xp is no guarantee you will get the card going. Check for drivers.
There may be an updated driver for me or you may be even using the driver for a different version of the card.
Go to the downloads area of the maker of thewireless card.

Absolutely, assuming the laptop is powerful enough to run Windows XP.
