When i plug in my charger into my computer..the screen lights up( which means it's charging) and then goes dim again ( which means it's not charging) and when i turn off the laptop the chager light isn't on....
i got this laptop last christmas ( 2006)
i don't see why a laptop battery would go bad this fast...so i've been assuming that it's not the battery..but the charger...i am not sure if i have a warranty or not..so does anyone know what's wrong with my laptop?

OK is the battery of the laptop full or is the charger done?

The life of a battery is 200 charges which may be a year or so.
Also they die over time.It is a chemical process.
Many people now think of their laptop as their main computer. It sits on a desk. Never moves and is plugged in 24/7. Good way to fry the battery. (Women at big box stores oogle laptops something terrible , Why the fascination ?
The answer is always the same "Because it is so cuteeeeeeeee"
Discharge the battery fully. Wrap it in a plastic bag and place it in the freezer compartment of the fridge ( not joking) Let it get as cold as it can for several days. Some people even use liquid nitrogen.
Let it warm up and try to charge it then.
The life span of a battery is rated at approx 200 charges which is a year for many.
The battery is not covered by any warranty.
You may well need a new battery.

I got my first laptop in August 2004 and by August 2005 the battery died so it could be the battery. The battery I purchased after that lasted well over 2 years. Also, there is usually an at least one year warranty when you buy these things, lol, so I would check that out.

Usually the battery that comes with a new laptop doesn`t last too long, so may be the case with you..is it still working without a proper charge? You must find the warranty that comes with your piece. In addition, you can go to the web site of the manufacturer and get detail... Contact the store you bought and if you get a negetive reply you`ve to replace it, no choice...I`ve a Lenovo laptop and I seldom use battery power.
