My desktop is messed up... it's a dell dimension 3000 with a windows xp. It has a black screen that says in brief: a previous startup attempt was interrupted due toa power failure or because the power or reset button was pressed. (which i did push) i tried safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known config, start windows norm. than there is blue screen that says: "stop error screen" unmountable_boot_volume technical information:
***STOP: 0x000000ED (0x623DF9E0,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000)

well hope that made sense to someone i have no clue...

HELP!!?!?!?!?!?!? What's wrong? What can I do? Will it be expensive to fix? I'm clueless

I am not sure exactly what happened. It was working fine then got cut off. Tried to cut it back on and it said there was a prob. with the time and date being wrong and it would not stay on, kept restarting. Cut it back off. A speaker got placed on top of the modem and when cut back on it said something about invalid files and something needed to be checked. I cut it off. When cut back on, speaker had been moved and it said it was going to check the files. That is when it started saying file so and so unreadable and has been deleted and I think it deleted everything because now it wont do anything. Is there a free downloadable solution to this and a way to get all the songs and everything back. Please tell me yes!!!! Windows XP Home Edition for Compaq

I recently acquired a Graphire 2 Tablet from a friend, but she lost the stylus some time ago and the site isn't clear as to what type of stylus to get as a replacement. Would the TabletPC pens work or is there some specific type I'd have to get?

when I first bought my laptop I went through and tweaked all my settings and I remember one that said something like "dim monitor when on battery power" and I checked it thinking it was a good way to conserve battery power. But something is funky with it and now it dims when it's on AC power, which is not only inefficient, but quite annoying. I've gone searching for this setting again and I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help? I have an Inspiron E1500 with Windows XP, it's about a year old.

Our office has a computer network, and there is a large monitor that is locally connected to a nearby computer. However, we would like to connect the monitor to another computer in the office, about 30 yards away from the large monitor. Is there away to do this without a long VGA cable? Can the distant (ie remote) computer connect to the large monitor through a network connection to the nearby (ie physically connected to monitor) computer? Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a reasonably new laptop and am the sort of person who likes to keep things clean and tidy.

But we all know that little things creep into the nooks and crannies of keyboards, dust, perhaps a few hairs or two, or the odd bogey!!!

So does anybody know a good way to keep keyboards clean???

Many thanks

Darren

I have an s-video port on my lap top and i'm not sure if there are "input" ones and "output" ones, or if the port could be either. Also, I have a universal cord for my Super Nintendo that has an S-Video output. Can I plug this into my laptop to play Super Nintendo on it? What programs do I need? Do I have to alter my viewing or something?

Here is the sitatuion:
120GB won't load windows XP.
Moved the 120GB to another desktop w/80GB Hard Drive
120GB (bad one) is on slave; 80GB (good one) is on master.
BIOS can identify both HDs; the problem is; it won't go to the windows.

Setting on the boot priority is set to 1st boot the 80GB (good one).
I suspect that the 120GB (bad) is affecting the windows XP OS.

It will be normal if I take out the 120GB HD.

I am trying to backup the important files (students' grade)......from that 120GB (it's IDE)

Hope someone can help me with a solution other than asking students' grade.

Thanks.

I just bought an awesome gaming pc. now im looking for a video card for it. i was looking at the Nvidia Geforce EVGA 7600 GT 256mb, but im second guessing my self i think. i dont have alot of money to spend. which is why im leaning toward the cheaper side. does anyone have and suggestions for video cards that are great for gaming, for no more then around $150 after rebate? I want something that can play todays games no problem, and will play games that come out a year from now, fine too. i plan to upgrade to something a lot better 18 months from now. but for now it seems like the 7600 gt is a good card for me. im leaning towards Nvida more then ati. but will listen to suggestions. Also please give any reason(s) why you suggested that card. thanks

Like physical structure (No. Of PINS) are obvious but what are the other essential factors for a processor to work fine with a motherboard?
Do all the things must be EXACT like , front bus speed, core stepping , CPUID String, Core Voltage, Bus/Core Ratio,Manufacturing Technology, etc etc.

I know that the best thing is to talk to motherboard manufacturer for the compatibilty of a processor so please do not suggest that or give any non serious answer.

Thanks in advance

After a few errors I have just managed to get my new Sony DVD drive into my computer!!

However, the reason I bought a new drive was that my old one, wouldnt play DVD's very well, the picture was very "jumpy" and after a while would just stop and start and stop and start etc!!

But with music its ok and can copy and record absolutely fine

My new one is doing exactly the same! Doh!!!!!

What else could it be?

All help is greatly appreciated!!
