Reformatting your hard drive would be a better choice. You can do that when in install Linux.

Otherwise:

Linux installs and sets up a dual boot function so you can choose which OS to use as your machine is booting up. At least Fedora's Version does anyway.

Install Linux and watch for the question, "Do you want a dual boot?" and click, "yes".

After the Installation is finished you will be able to access Windows when you reach the request for Linux or DOS in the choice lines for which OS you want to load.

If you are not happy with the Windows OS you could reformat the hard drive first and make space available on the HD for good things you might want to collect.

If you can get into the Command Prompt, just put in

C>fdisk

and hit enter

Alternatively, take it out the casing of your own PC, temporarily hook it up as a secondary drive in the PC of a friend or relative who has a fully functioning PC, and format it from there before slotting it back in your own computer.

If you just boot to the Linux CD, you can format the drive which will erase everything.
