I just bought an awesome gaming pc. now im looking for a video card for it. i was looking at the Nvidia Geforce EVGA 7600 GT 256mb, but im second guessing my self i think. i dont have alot of money to spend. which is why im leaning toward the cheaper side. does anyone have and suggestions for video cards that are great for gaming, for no more then around $150 after rebate? I want something that can play todays games no problem, and will play games that come out a year from now, fine too. i plan to upgrade to something a lot better 18 months from now. but for now it seems like the 7600 gt is a good card for me. im leaning towards Nvida more then ati. but will listen to suggestions. Also please give any reason(s) why you suggested that card. thanks

You need to catch up buddy, as do I =)
7600 GT will play Doom 3 , Quake 4, Prey, and F.E.A.R. quite well, but when you're buying a video card, more onboard RAM the better. That 256 isn't gonna cut it for games coming out this year, look for 512. And if you didn't know, the 8800 is new DUAL SLI, that workz DirectX10, which will be needed for games made for Vista, so You will have to upgrade anywayz in a year or 2. Just food for thought.

Just to give you a little word of advice with a range of 100 to 150 your not going to find that much of a good card. Gamming cards that will play today's great games are in the range of 300 to 500. Some very good ones cost even more. For the price of 150 you can probably get a 3 to 4 year old card but it wouldn't be worth it. Vista for example is become mainstreem. Vista is the first OS that requires a lot from the Video card. You best bet would be to go tiger direct or buy one used from ebay.

Well for 150$ you won't get much , the 7600GT is probably the best one, but it's not even that great with today's games, let alone a year from now. This card only has a 128 bit bus, and 256 bit bus, is the bare minimum today.

For your budget, I would buy the ATI Radeon X1650 Pro with 256 MB cache minimum. Newegg.com has one by PowerColor that will run you $129.99 with a $50 rebate (PCI Express). It will run the most current games a medium settings and is Windows Vista compatitble.
