on poer failure UPS is on position but sc reen goes black battery is OK. Any way in need how to recharge it? this is happening vbery recently.

i was thinking about getting this video card

Apparently I need a step by step explaination. I'm not computer illiterate by any means, and I only want to back up my own dvd's (mostly Finding Nemo for my granddaughter). I have Nero that came with my new burner, and I also downloaded AnyDVD, but when I tried to download, first it wouldn't go from drive to drive, and when I tried to burn it to my computer, it said I had over 1000 hours to go. If someone could lead me completely from scratch, I would be grateful. My granddaughter has already worn out 2 new copies of Finding Nemo, I just want to make her a copy since it's almost impossible to find anymore.

To upload videos from my camcorder and my question is, I know the type of firewire port to buy..... but is it easy to install a firewire port? I know it consists of taking of the side of my monitor off to my computer and installing the port. Just wanted to hear some good advice from some well informed computer people! Thanks!

I was wondering how much memory I would need to download and store a movie on a portable flash drive? Would it be acceptable to get a 1gb or 2gb flash usb drive? Do I need to compress the movies? I basically would like to download a movie and watch it at work through the usb port. Also, anyone know of any good websites to download movies? How much memory does a movie take up?

I am getting a laptop and it has a wireless card installed in the laptop. My question is do I still need to hook up a ethernet cord into my modem if I buy a wireless router? I'm new to all this laptop stuff but I already have a home computer with a dsl connection with verizon. My verizon modem only has one port for a ethernet cord which is going into my computer that I have now.

Hi all

ive never posted in this part of the forum before so sorry if its in the wrong place.

I bought a usb webcam a few months ago-I tried to install it and my computer wouldnt accept it- The comp kept freezing after i tried to turn it on.A CD to install it came with it-But i have since moved home and misplaced it.

Ive since gotten a new comp but I dont have the CD to install the CAM -can i get software online to install it

I have a Dell Dimension 5100 (1 year old) and would like to upgrade the graphics card. However, i've been told that this model is fitted with an integrated graphics accelerator, even though i understood it to have a Radeon X300, which means i can't fit a card to the current motherboard. I want to install more RAM in my computer which currently has 256mb DDR and has a 2.8Ghz processor. I was thinking of taking RAM from my old PC and installing it my current one.

I know how to fit it and do all the hands on stuff but after you have fitted the RAM does anything have to be done to configure it?

Or does the computer automatically start using it?

Is it ok for a laptop to be switched on for 24 hrs a day. I use a very old desktop, thinking of getting a laptop now. I usually use the computer for Development (Mainly WEB programming, PHP,MYSql etc...) and music (editing, mixing, DJing etc) so i use a lot of CPU power. I also keep the downloads running all day long. I dont have any air-conditioning, do these laptops come with any in-built cooling FAN. Thanks a lot

The hard drive on my pc packed in.

I replaced it with an old hard drive from an older pc and it works ok.

But for some reason I havent got any of the sound icons on my task bar, the sound isnt working and i cant detect my sound card even though it is there because its a built in 1 that came with the pc.

And for some reason my cd-rom has got power in it but when I put a disc in it doesnt read anything, it just spins and then stops

Please please help me

its taking 15 mins to start up and then its freezing when i try and access anything but the net is working fine.ive tried reinstalling xp and its still the same.ive done a system scan and there are no viruses and ive run a disk check i dunno what else to do,please help!!!
