Response times, accessories etc, all the same except one widescreen the other not.

It depends on what you want to do with it.
If you are doing ofice work (spreadsheets, word processing, email, web surfing, etc.) a 4:3 aspect ratio is preferrable. If the monitor can be turned sideways, so you can see a whole page on the screen, its even better. The added height of a 4:3 monitor compared to a widescreen monitor is better to work with.

If you play a lot of games, the newer games like Half Life 2 or similar will have a special setting for widescreen monitors. The greater viewing angle will be great for gaming, but older games don't have this setting, and will look worse (i.e. all people look like fat dwarves).

If you use your PC as a media center, to watch movies or videos in widescreen a lot, get a widesceen monitor.
