Hardware - January 2007

I have a Lexmark X73. I was trying to print something for school and ran out of ink. So I replaced the ink cartridge, but I think I must have done it incorrectly because the cartridges are now stalled to one side. They will not move. I can't print anything, and the green light, the one that tells you when you've done something wrong, is blinking. And yes, I removed the little piece of tape covering the place where the ink comes out. And I'm almost positive it's the right # cartridge - it's the same # that was in there. I've turned the printer on/off, turned the computer on/off, and everything. My printer is not under warranty anymore. Any ideas that might help? Anything you can suggest would be great.

I had been waiting for Windows Vista to be released so I could buy a laptop with Vista already installed. But now that I have been doing some research, it looks like Vista is going to be alot like Mac OSX. So now I am torn.

I will mainly be using my laptop for watching movies, some video editing, and uploading pictures from my digital camera. I use my computer right now for storing 2000+ pictures. Soon, I will be heading off to college so I will be using my laptop for PowerPoint presentations, essays, internet research, etc. So kind of laptop do you recommend? And can I use my laptop for internet anywhere I please? I also heard of a mac Leopard? Should I wait around for that to come out now?

I am new to overclocking and need help with settings for my new rig.

Here are the specs:

CPU: Intel e6600
Mobo: Asus P5N-E 650i
Memory: Corsair Xtreme PC6400/DDR2/800

I have a CoolerMaster Aquagate mini R80 CPU cooler.

Not looking for anything too crazy, but I have read you can get this CPU up to 3.4 and I'd like to try.

Im trying to replace my empty printer ink cartridge with a generic "calidad" ink cartridge, Im suppose to take the small computer chip off the original ink cartridge and put it on the generic ink cartridge, The problem is IT WON'T STICK!, It just fall's off!!!!, I't's lined up correctly, it just doesn't have sufficiant adhesive?, Please advise????? p.s. (my printer is a pixma 500)

HI had re re-install XP Home on My PC _ PC Has 1 Unpartitioned Hard Drive (IDE) - delete all Partitions - reformat drive that shows as C (Full format not Quick) windows installs OK but when finished the drive letter shows as H ! (This PC Has A card reader built in and these show as various letters inc C !) Problem is when you try to install software it almost always defaults to drive C - so I have a Problem - anyone any idea ? Thanks in Advance

I have bought labels in the store but they don't look or feel like the ones on dvd's... the dvd labels look very thin and apear like they are printed on the dvd how can i get mine to look like that and what should i use to make it happen.

I am coming to London,UK for my higher studies and thinking which is better for me MAC or PC laptop ? I have done research on MAC and found that new MAC can run Windows on it and I also like other features of it such as no viruses and many more other things .. I was going to get the X1650 PRO tomorrow and get more RAM later.(1048MB,depending on card performance) But I discovered that Overclockers UK are selling a new AGP card that seems to be more powerful than the X1650. The X1950 PRO. I read a site that tells me allthe details and it seems very impressive. I also realised that it costs £152 inc VAT. I don't have that kind of cash but I also know that it hasn't went into full production in the 512MB model. I don't want another 256MB. But I can't find one on Ebay. I'm thinking that it may become more available and cheaper. I would buy if it was cheaper. But when is this card due to become more available and no more expensive than £120 on any retailer or merchant, even on ebay? If its not out within a week and is still expensive I'll probably get the X1650 PRO off of Overclockers UK. Tell me if its worth the wait and the price...

New-ish HP desktop. Neither the DVD-ROM, nor the HP CD WRITER will open. There is NO CD or DVD inside. I have tried the pinhole method, and it has the same result: light comes on, attempt to open, even slight movement. Still won't open... Any ideas?
