I have a Lexmark X73. I was trying to print something for school and ran out of ink. So I replaced the ink cartridge, but I think I must have done it incorrectly because the cartridges are now stalled to one side. They will not move. I can't print anything, and the green light, the one that tells you when you've done something wrong, is blinking. And yes, I removed the little piece of tape covering the place where the ink comes out. And I'm almost positive it's the right # cartridge - it's the same # that was in there. I've turned the printer on/off, turned the computer on/off, and everything. My printer is not under warranty anymore. Any ideas that might help? Anything you can suggest would be great.

Thanks, guys!

I can't reach them - they're stuck to one side and nothing I do will move them.

Seriously, you may have to force the tray that holds the cartridges back into the open where you can take the new one out. Power off the printer first before you do that.

It's not the best thing to do to your printer, but you're really out of options at this point. As soon as you get the cartridge out, don't make the mistake of putting it back in. Get a NEW one and make sure it's 100% compatible. It also wouldn't hurt to review the manual (which you can find on Lexmark's site if needed).

If you put back the empty cartridge in your printer, will the carriage return to the normal position? If it did, then the ink cartridge is faulty. Take it back to the store and have it replaced.

First Unplug the printer from the power source, Then you will have to try to pull the cartridges to the center and try to remove them. I would guess that you didn't get them seated into the proper place. replace them making sure they are properly seated.
