Ok, so I can't get my laptop to work, but as far as I know, the hard drive is still ok, and all my files are still on there. Anybody have any sensible ideas about how I could go about transferring or retrieving the files from it?

hey all, im getting new stuff for my computer but theres 2 that i think would be good, theres a pentium D Dual Core 945 2x2mb L2 cache 3.4ghz... (what ever that means) OR Pentium 4 541 3.20 ghz 1mb L2 cache. Which would be better for games like battlefield 2, please be a bit clear coz i dont know much about this stuff lol.

which is ment specifically for an external hard drive is not active yet and the usb ports arent active yet either. i know the firewire ports are active so i bought this external hard drive with the firewire option on it and connected it. I was already coming close to running outta room on the dvrs hard drive so i figured i would know if its working or not pretty soon. I recorded some shows and i was thinking ok it must be working cause i recorded a few one hour shows but then i tried recording another and the dreaded message poped up that said u have no more space left! so i would like to know if im doing something wrong or the firewire ports arent ment to support a hard drive or somebody else said that u have to install drivers with like a CDROM software there is no optical drive to do this. which makes sense if ur connecting it to a computer with firewire port and an optical drive then u would have no problem k thanks for any info! They say they clean up smudges and streaks, but after I used them I got more streaks. I used 3d Microfiber Electronics Cloth and that seemed to do the job better. What did I do wrong with the pc wipes?

I reformatted my hard drive called C. I then put windows XP back on it. I also have another hard drive that used to be called "D" but after I formatted my C hard drive, D was no where to be found. Instead my CD-ROM took the place of it.
I checked in "My Computer"- there is only "C" BUT device manager and system info both recognize that there are two hard drives Maxtor 2BO....*(My old D(20gig)) and Maxtor 6YO..... (My C)I even tried running a Maxtor Diagnostic Boot up Floppy, and what do you know, according to this ******* disc both hard drives are there and working fine and dandy. and yes i reformatted my C twice over after this shpeel. I have no way of accessing this hard drive becuase in "My Computer", there is no other hard drive but C. This is outrageous becuase my whole life is stored on that other drive. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPP! PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
