I'm sick of it.
What'd I buy all this RAM for if it's only going to slowly evaporate away in everyday usage?

I'm not rich or anything so I have been saving up and I want the best I can get for the money. So I'm deciding between these two laptops.

2.16ghz Core duo
1gb ram
256 sdram
100gb hd
Price $1599 (with 100 mail in rebate)

or
2.16 core 2 duo
1gb ram
128sd ram
120gb hd
Price $1800 (with student discount)

Basically its price and video card or core 2 duo.

I own a Sony Vaio VPCV-RS720G desktop and it is the loudest computer I have owned. I thought it was normal when I first bought it because it was my first XP Home Edition computer. But now I know it’s not normal and my warranty is far gone. What can I do?

I own a Dell Dimension 4550 which had 512MB RAM, upgraded last week to 1GB with a 512MB module from Crucial.
When I installed the RAM (I installed the new module where the first module was and the existing module in the second slot as I was just working out how to fit RAM correctly and that's how it ended up), I booted up and verified the text alerting me to the new RAM and booted into XP (I dual boot with Ubuntu on master and XP on slave, GRUB handles the boot process and I set it up so that I can put XP back as master with no ill effect). But if I reboot (that is not the initial boot) I get greeted with 'Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility'. F1 does nothing, and in setup utility my 80GB master seems to show up as 1125TB (it shows as 80GB when I check this on first boot); which is weird. But if I just turn off for 30mins and turn on again I can boot into Ubuntu/XP. What's happening here? I don't get it. It's annoying problem; I don't want to wait 30mins for a reboot! Help

I just got this laptop for Christmas for school! I whiped up all of the liquid I could asap but I know some must have penetrated because the computer will not turn on. When I press the power key, a power light turns on briefly, but the computer does not power up. Does anyone have experience with spilling liquids on their laptop, or on a Vaio to be exact? Do you think it will be okay?

I have a laptop computer, and I want to run a desktop computer beside it, but I'd rather not have an external monitor on my desk.

I have a TV tuner device hooked up to my laptop. Can I buy one of those VGA to S-Video converters and just use that to connect to the video capture device, and then just have a mouse and keyboard hooked up to the desktop to run it with?

It's a really old desktop, so I'm not sure if it has the TV Out thing that I keep hearing about.

After ruining my PC, I wanted to start from scratch and re-install windows. Now, I have the recovery CD. But when I put it on and starting my PC, it loads to where it won't work anymore (The Pick User screen) and just gets stuck there. (For anyone interested in how I messed up my PC, I switched the name of my C drive and my D drive.) My question is, how do I make this recovery CD work
