Its kinda old school kewl, himem/lowmem its a switch in the DOS that doesn't (cough) exist in XP.
At startup you can enter these fields and look at or adjust them. As allways with any System Changes, make a full sys backup before makeing any changes to the system and or registry.

Use a dos emulator, since xp pro does not support 16bit dos applications any more you can only play them through emulators which you can download free off the internet.
