I have a laptop computer, and I want to run a desktop computer beside it, but I'd rather not have an external monitor on my desk.

I have a TV tuner device hooked up to my laptop. Can I buy one of those VGA to S-Video converters and just use that to connect to the video capture device, and then just have a mouse and keyboard hooked up to the desktop to run it with?

It's a really old desktop, so I'm not sure if it has the TV Out thing that I keep hearing about.

Well, I don't need it to be really good quality or anything. All I'm doing with this desktop is running two hard drives in it, and I'll have it networked with my laptop so I can access the stuff from my laptop. I just need to be able to have a display in case I any problems come up on the desktop.

It's tricky to set that kind of thing up, but it does in fact work. and like you said, you may not have the proper tv out port on your desktop.

that's the real kicker. you can buy a vga to svideo adapter, but to get a decent one, itll run you approx $90. but, it is in fact worth it to avoid having an eye sore of a monitor on a desk where a laptop is.

you are able to't use a operating laptop or computer as an exterior reveal screen. you're more effective useful off plugging your reveal screen (from the computer) onto your computer. for sure it truly isn't any good in case you want to apply your computer, no longer your computer... Sorry... good success...
