I just got this laptop for Christmas for school! I whiped up all of the liquid I could asap but I know some must have penetrated because the computer will not turn on. When I press the power key, a power light turns on briefly, but the computer does not power up. Does anyone have experience with spilling liquids on their laptop, or on a Vaio to be exact? Do you think it will be okay?

One, stop turning it on. like any electronic, you should not run them in liquids. would be like you taking a bath with a radio. not a good idea, you would die, but more unfortunately so would the radio. so like the other answer, open it up and station it upside down so that the keyboard is facing the floor or a towel or something. dont turn it on anymore for a day, or two.
Second, you are to do what we call a power reset. first, remove the battery and unplug it. with both power sources removed, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. then, replace the battery and plug it in. If you didn't fry your motherboard then it should turn back on. If this doesn't work, then since you got it for christmas, it should have a warranty. call sony's tech support and beat the rush of christmas technical problems using their warranty hotline.

best wishes.

I hope you unplugged the power adapter and pulled out the battery right away. If you did, it's probably salvagable. If you didn't pull them both out b4 starting the following procedure.

Open the laptop up and flip it over into a flat A frame. Use a spray bottle of distilled water to wash off any leftover sticky stuff on or under the keyboard, then use a blow dryer set to LOW. The high setting will melt the electronics and ruin your monitor. Blow for 15-20 minutes , moving the dryer rapidly to ensure nothing overheats. reinstall the battery and try again. Repeat if necessary.

IF this doesnt work, it may be hosed.

turn the laptop unside down, opened up, over a vent if possible. My friend has spilled water into his laptop before, and he did these things right after the spill. His computer was fine.

the first component to do is to objective to stumble on a service guide, you somewhat favor to get rid of the keyboard so that you'll sparkling and dry it precise. you could also favor to get rid of the keycaps from the keyboard (they are usaully basically clipped on) once you've bumped off the keyboard from the computer then wash away any ideal chocolate milk with uncomplicated water (ideally you would possibly want to apply distilled water yet tap water is larger than leaving a sticky drink in position. then you ought to dry it, the suggestion of packing it with rice is a good one yet ought to not be carried out till once you've rinsed away the sticky stuff, sticky beverages get a concepts harder to get rid of in case you let them dry. If that fails then it is probbally time to flow searching for a operating laptop or computer factors vendors who can promote you a alternative keyboard.
