Is core 2 duo on macbook pro that much of a difference?

I'm not rich or anything so I have been saving up and I want the best I can get for the money. So I'm deciding between these two laptops.

2.16ghz Core duo
1gb ram
256 sdram
100gb hd
Price $1599 (with 100 mail in rebate)

or
2.16 core 2 duo
1gb ram
128sd ram
120gb hd
Price $1800 (with student discount)

Basically its price and video card or core 2 duo.

Both hd's are 5400 rpm and the memory 667 ddr2. So I guess the video card and price outweighs core 2 duo?

Ok, well

2.16ghz Core duo is an extremely fast processor and anything above 2ghz for Laptops is great.
1gb ram, lemme know what type of RAM it is and 1gb is good enough,incase you later upgrade it to vista
256sd ram is well enough for a student because you dont have any applications that need very fast memory.
100gb HD is great, but find out the speed
and find out the video card model.

I'd say go for the 1st choice, because although it makes 20gb in difference, you are hardly ever going to run out of space with a 100gb HD.
