If I have a Intel Celeron 900HZ socket 370, can I change it to any intel processor like intel Premium or any other intel processor? And does it have to have the same socket number?

Intel Celeron 900MHz socket 370 is part of the "Coppermine-128" (180 nm) processors that go up to Celeron 1100MHz. You may be able to use the even larger "Tualatin-256" (130 nm) Celeron processors that are also socket 370 and go up to Celeron 1400MHz. It really depends on what CPU's are compatible with your motherboard. An Intel Pentium 4 is a different socket size, so it won't fit.

All you can do is check the manufacturers website and see what processors that your motherboard can support. The core 2 duos will physically fit in your board but the bios may not support it. You may be able to flash your bios to a newer version that will support it, or you may have to purchase a new motherboard for a core 2 duo. Without the model number for your motherboard we can't help further.

IMO its not worth upgrading a socket 370.
Invest in a socket 775 if you can afford it, or a new pc.

Yes the sockets have to be the same.

But don't waste your money upgrading that system.

Buy a new cheap motherboard/cpu combo. I'm sure it will be cheaper.
