Hello,
I have a USB seagate i use for backups here at work, and i have mappings already associated with my profile here with active directory which i dont control. Anyway one mapping in particular goes to an " i:\ " which i need to have open all the time for the programs. I noticed when i plug my USB HDD in, lights are on, but nothing will show up in 'my computer' list of drives... if i disconnect the current " i:\ " then i can see my USB SEAGATE HDD. But then programs i am working in error out coz i disconnected. Now when i disconnect the USB drive.... i lose the 'i' drive and have to completely log out of win xp and back in to acquire the mappings.

Is there a setting i can get to that will tell the computer here "hey stupid, go to the next available drive letter instead of " i:\ " (or something to that effect :) )

i have a 1 GB flash that when plugged in, gives itself " f:\ " with mappings in place... frustrating i cant get the USB SEAGATE to do the same.... please help

I brought a DELL LATITUTE XPI P1 133MHZ 8MB RAM 810MB HDD LAPTOP PC ( Don't know what that other stuff after P1 means) I was wondering is it humanly possible to install an internal drive in it and a usb hub to it. do you think i have enough space to do so. please keep answers simple because lets' face it i am not a computer genuis that knows all of the computer lingo.

are there any hidden files?? i counted the space the folders occupy and its only 3.69 gb. why is this happening? is something wrong with my computer?? this is hampering its performance.

The only drivers I found are for Win98 (e.g. at driversguide.com)

but this problem cropped up suddenly, how is this possible that the settings got suddenly incompatible? i have to work with 16bit color.....rather than 32bit true colour......is there anything i can do, to bring things back to normal?

if i change the settings to 32bit true colorn and then restart the comp, it doesnt open up.....PLS HELP !!!!!!

My laptop has Windows 98 on it( well that what it shows) but it says that the file command .com is missing or corrupted. It was given to me so what should I do. It has a floppy drive and cd rom drive ( no usb hubs) . Also , I really don't know alot of the computer lingo so please keep it simple for the average person.

My had disc is divded into 4 parts...sometimes..i transfare Some files From the system part ( c ) to the other parts...like ( e ) due to the spaceless in c..so i transfare them to the other parts..then when i restart my computer..i come to the part to see the files.wich i transfared them ..i don't find them....why ? i Don't ...anyBody there can tell me the reasone of that ..and how i can return those files ..back....

Which Windows XP Driver with work for a Compaq Armada 1530 -which has a Cirrus Logic CL-GD7548 graphics card?

Ihave managed to get Windows XP to install on this laptop and everything is working except the graphics card driver is working in VGA Save mode and only about 8 colours are being displayed on screen - I'd like to stick with Windows XP but get the colours and screen resolution increased to their maximum settings.

I cannot find a compatiable Windows XP VGA Driver for this laptop.

after formatting a raw hardisk .i installed the os win 98 by typing setup and then pressing enter .a blue screen comes and starts from 0% and goes to 99% and gets hanged .then i pressed ctrl alt and del and again booted from cd and formatted the partitions and installed by typing setup and after getting installed it automatically boots from the hardisk but the screen goes blank my pc runs but nothing on screen. what is the prob

iam using win 98 and intel celeron is processor and speed is 600mghz and ram is 64 mb . my mouse has become old. instead of removing dust and cleaning it regularly again it goes up and down moves left right.slowly my keyboard i s getting worn out also. as the pc is 5yrs old. what will you recommend me should buy new optical mouse or purchase a new pc.

I recently installed a new OS (win xp pro) on my computer.
intel pentium 4 Dreamsys by http//:www.trigem.co.kr. I am in Korea

Now my computer only displays 4 colors.
If i check the setting, my only choice is four colors.

When I check what device is installed, it comes up blank.

I have spent all day trying to figure out what driver I need to install. I was reading some Yahoo answers and some one suggested using the "dxdiag" to find out the display device running on the computer.

My display device comes up blank when I look on the direct X diagnostic.

What did I do to my computer?

i don't use it all that much, so i log off and shut the computer off. i do this about 2 times a day, the other times i usually put it on 'standby' mode.

does any one know if this is harmefull, to keep doing it.
