Cute Pit. To refurbish means to renovate, fix and or update. You can buy a refurbishes CPU but allot of your decision should be determined by what you want to do with it. Tell the seller what your intentions are for the machine and if it meets your needs then why not save a few dollars and buy the used one.

It means used equipment brought back up to the standards of new equipment. It is not as good, because they don't replace everything, just the main components, so things can go wrong faster with refurbished equipment than new equipment. You save a little money buying refurbished, but not all that much.

Of our 90 computers, we only bought 4 new computers in our lives, (assembled many from parts, new and used, too!), and we are in our 60's.
All the rest are 'curbside donations', used from thrift shops, or, refurbished, like from http://cheaptronicsdepot.com and http://apple.com
It is always better to save money, to spend on all the really great gadgets and toys!
Run a test disc in the computer, the demo in teh store, see if it is working right: http://pclinuxos.com
Then open the console and type the logs "DMESG" is the start up file.

all refurbished means is that it was rebuilt. what ever went wrong with it was repaired. and other stuff was probably upgraded. there is nothing bad about refurbished, they are just as good as a new one and most of the time cheaper.
