First of all you need to isolate the possible causes by process of elimination.

When did the problem start ?

Had you just installed a new program or made any hardware changes just previous to the issue starting ?

Have you (or any other user on the PC) perhaps deleted files or directories you should not have (system files) ?

Does this happen when using any particular program or randomly at any time ?

Have you tried bring the unit back to a restore point prior to when the problem started ?

These are things we need to know in order to assist you successfully.

If all attempts to fix this fail I would simply backup all personal files & use the HP restore DVDs to bring the unit back to original factory settings.

Leave it in that state for a few days to see if the problem is still there. If so, then you likely have a hardware issue & should contact HP.

If not, then be more careful when installing new programs or deleting files.

Make it a habit to routinely create "restore points" using the Windows "System Restore" utility. Especially just prior to instlling a program you download from the web.
