I want to use it to hold photos, use the internet fast, watch DVD's, hold music files + play them and use MS Flight Simulator + MSOffice apps.

I just want it to run fast!

How much will it cost for laptop and what spec should i look for and why?

You can use a basic laptop with a DVD player installed, a 1.4 to 1.8 GHZ cpu and at least one GIG of RAM.
Less than $1000.00.

Your requirements (as shown above) are not demanding - system wise - so there is no need to get a high power system. If you are going to use a wireless router then a wireless card should be installed......most laptops already have that when you buy it - but check with the seller just to be sure.

get the software for the flight sim you want and MS office, buy the computer that is at or above the recommended specifications on each of those. make sure it has a DVD drive and at least 40gig harddrive (more is better but will cost)

your Priorities should be in the following order:
RAM (at least 512 MB, 1 GB is better)
graphics card (at least 64 MB, 128 MB is better)
soundcard
Harddrive

consider screen size, do you want a large screen to watch easily or a small screen for portability?

look to pay from £400 upwards (upper limit is up to you, 3,000 is near top of the range)
