I recently installed a new OS (win xp pro) on my computer.
intel pentium 4 Dreamsys by http//:www.trigem.co.kr. I am in Korea

Now my computer only displays 4 colors.
If i check the setting, my only choice is four colors.

When I check what device is installed, it comes up blank.

I have spent all day trying to figure out what driver I need to install. I was reading some Yahoo answers and some one suggested using the "dxdiag" to find out the display device running on the computer.

My display device comes up blank when I look on the direct X diagnostic.

What did I do to my computer?

The four colors is the maximium Windows XP can display when there is a video driver problem. Unless you have the device driver for the video adapter, the dxdiag utility is going to be useless because it gets it's information from the device driver list.

If this is an actual card in the system. Here is a backend approach.

1. Click on Start | Run
2. Type cmd.exe in the Run dialog box and press enter
3. In the black window that appears type debug
4. type the following command line in the debug window

d c000:0000 0200

5. Look on the left side of the screen for information that pertains to your video card.
6. You may have to adjust the hex address in increments of 0100 for example:

d c000:0000 0300
d c000:0000 0400
d c000:0000 0500
d c000:0000 0600

7. Use this information to try and find a driver
8. If you still cannot locate a driver you may have to pull the card out of the class (unless it is an onboard [embedded] video chip)

Good luck
