i go to my control panel and get on network and internet connections and go to internet options it wont come up
what can i do to fix it

I know nothing about laptops but would like to buy a second hand or reconditioned one for me and and my ten year old son to use. Anyone got good suggestions. We have a pc at home which we use a lot for the internet but need to have mobile internet access.

Thank you for your help! I'm ugrading my dell inspiron 9300 laptop hard drive to a 7200 hitachi hard drive. After I put the new HD in the computer says no hard drive found. I tried running the windows xp disk but after it goes through its rounds it says it cannot install because no hard drive is found. How do I get the computer to recognize the new HD? I'm not a computer genius but im gessing I need a driver or something. If thats the case I don't have a floppy drive on this computer so how would I add information to it? I do have and external usb HD though. Thank you!

I think that if you buy cheap laptops (i.e. Dell, Acer) then within a few years you will just be pissed off. I am getting ready to buy a laptop, and I want something that will be reliable and perform well over the years (not a mac) can anyone help me with somethings to look for in buying it, and also any recommendations.

Sometimes my mouse starts jumping up and down the screen or stays stuck at either the top or bottom of the screen. I can only control it on the X axis. It's a PS/2 Logitech ball mouse. I have cleaned the ball and rollers, and the pins but nothing works.
Even if I turn the mouse upside down the cursor jumps about on the screen. The funny thing is that sometimes it works fine.
Reinstalling Windows and changing drivers hasn't helped. I'm worried that even if I change the mouse the problem will persist. Please suggest a solution. Thanks.

as these websites are full of fraud does anyone know any good website I can sell my laptops and get paid online for it have tried ebay but all these fraud people keep bidding and dont pay for the goods.

~intel 850GB mobo with 4 ram slots.
~128mb (64x2 pc800 rd ram) on 1st bay(2 slots) and the new 512mb (256x2 pc700 rd ram) on the 2nd bay(2 slots)
~things used to be much faster when i was using only the 128mb pc800.
~Is the pc700 decrcreasing the performance? is there anyway i can overcloack it to make it faster?

I am looking to buy other half a DVD writer for Xmas. I have seen the Pioneer DVR-110D 16x internal DVD Writer which looks pretty good but was wondering if anyone had an experiance of using this drive or any other Pioneer items? It there a better DVD write out there or shall I go with this one?

Now it is:
- Randomly shutting down
- The mouse skips a few inches of the screen
- When I typed "www" it typed "ppp"
- Sometimes the trackpad is clickable, sometimes not
- Trackpad is always turned off after random restart

What is wrong now???

It is a crappy HP Pavillion (I love my MacBook and Sony Desktop)

I have a Samtron 77v monitor and I run Windows XP on an HP Pavillion Media Center m260n. When I set my resolution to 1280x1040, which is supposed to be the optimal setting for 77V, everything gets extremely tiny. The only way i can use my computer is if I set it at 800x600 otherwise its too small. At work I use a higher resolution around 1280x1040 and it looks fine. Any idea how I can increase my resolution without making everything so small? Why is this happening anyway - is it the monitor? If I get a new LCD will I run into the same problem?
