remove the head/assembly and put into water for 1 week and then rinse ( take care of electronic items / cirucits they should not get wet).

You actually cannot safely remover the print hard on that printer.
First off if the printer has not been in use for more than about 6 months it is garbage, it will never work again.

If you are in the clear there is the WINDEX trick. First off make sure the printer is unplugged and the print cradle is in the center of the unit. Remove all cartridges..

Place a piece of absorbent clothe below the print cradle. Blue shop towels work wonderfully. With an eye dropper place 1 drop of Windex on the top of each "cone" (the section of the print cradle that fits into the cartridge itself. Wait about 20 minutes. Install cartridge run a print head cleaning. (make sure you removed the absorbent towel first)

You may need to repeat this procedure several time until you get a decent print quality.
