It depends on a magnificently large number of factors. A standard modem should, however, cost you about 50$.

Internal modems aren't terribly expensive. I've seen them as cheap as 35 dollars at Walmart.

Externals run a bit more, maybe 60 or 70.

Saw a pretty nice one that connects through the USB port. I think it was about 70 dollars. It won't work with a Mac. Macs use a fairly inexpensive little external USB modem that runs around 20.
